Ibutamoren is also known by other names — Ibutamorol, Nutrobal, Ibutamorol. Ego's laboratory cipher — MK-677, MK-0677 or L-163,191. Pharmacologically, it is a powerful non-peptide agonist of long-acting ghrelin receptors that stimulates the secretion of growth hormone. Among modern, well-studied drugs, it is one of the most powerful stimulators of the production of natural growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1).
IBUTAMOREN (MK 677) turned out to be a unique drug:
- It increases the secretion of several hormones that improve sports results, including growth hormone and IGF-1.
- Under the influence of the active substance, the metabolism of adipose tissue changes. Its deposits are effectively reduced. The volume of useful "dry" muscle mass grows faster.
- The mineral density of bone tissue increases.
- At the same time, the cortisol level does not increase.
In general, the drug is similar to growth hormone, but the price of IBUTAMOREN (MK 677) is much lower, while it is much safer.
The mechanism of action of IBUTAMOREN (MK 677) on the human body
The drug affects a number of areas of the brain responsible for metabolism, and it does this in four ways:
- Stimulates the production of the GHRH protein, which causes increased secretion of somatotropic hormone in the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland.
- Reduces the production of somatostatin — peptide hormone that suppresses the secretion of somatotropin.
- Stimulates GHRH signals in the pituitary gland.
- Limits signals affecting somatostatin receptors.
What effect does IBUTAMOREN (MK 677) have?
Research has shown that a single administration of 25 mg of the drug causes an average peak concentration of growth hormone equal to 22.1 μg/l. When the dose is increased, the peak levels of GH increase even more. IBUTAMOREN (MK 677) supports the level of growth hormone in blood plasma. This means that it is constantly running in the background.
Increased GR production, in turn, leads to other tangible manifestations:
- Muscle mass and strength grow.
- Fat deposits are reduced, as lipolysis increases under the influence of the drug. Thanks to this property, Ibutamoren is used in the treatment of obesity.
- The loss of muscle volume slows down.
- Bone density increases.
- Patients develop greater walking speed, especially in elderly people.
- Ibutamoren improves the quality and duration of sleep, which has a positive effect on general health.
The use of the drug allows you to increase the level of IGF-1 by 39-89%. This gives an additional positive effect:

Taking IBUTAMOREN (MK 677): course duration and doses
Studies have shown that the effect of the drug does not depend on the sex, age and other parameters of the person.
A daily dose of 25 mg is comparable to injectable growth hormone. With a weight of up to 80 kg, take 1 capsule per day on an empty stomach before going to bed (if taking the drug in the evening interferes with sleep, then the reception should be postponed to the morning and taken before breakfast on an empty stomach). If your weight is more than 80 kg, then you should add one more capsule before breakfast (total one capsule in the evening before going to bed, the second in the morning on an empty stomach). The duration of growth hormone stimulation after a single dose of the drug is 8 hours or more. Such a duration of growth hormone production is very effective for stimulating the production of IGF-1.
Is PCT (post-course therapy) required?
IBUTAMOREN (MK 677) does not affect the level of testosterone, so PCT is not required.
