Oxymetholone is a powerful oral anabolic steroid derived from dihydrotestosterone. More precisely, it is a close relative of methyldihydrotestosterone (mestanolone), differing from it only by the addition of a 2-hydroxymethylene group. The result is a steroid that is significantly different in activity from mestanolone, so it is very difficult to compare them. First of all, oxymetholone is a very powerful anabolic hormone. Dihydrotestosterone and mestanolone are very weak in this regard, since these molecules are not very stable in the environment of muscle tissue with a high content of enzymes (3-alpha-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase). Oxymetholone remains highly active here, which is confirmed by standard tests on animals, demonstrating significantly higher anabolic activity than testosterone or methyltestosterone. At the same time, the androgenicity of oxymetholone is also very low (from 1/4 to 1/7 of anabolic activity), although real results on humans indicate that it is significantly higher. Many consider oxymetholone to be the most powerful of the commercially available steroids. A beginner experimenting with this drug will most likely gain 20 to 30 kg of weight, and this can often happen after 6 weeks of use. This steroid contributes to the retention of water in the body, so a significant part of this increase will be due to water weight. This often does not matter much to the athlete, who can feel very big and strong while taking oxymetholone. Although the smooth look that occurs as a result of water retention is often not very attractive, it can significantly contribute to the increase in size and strength. Muscles are fuller, contract better and receive a certain protection in the form of additional water held in and around the connective tissues.

SIDE EFFECTS

Oxymetholone is a highly estrogenic steroid. During treatment, gynecomastia often occurs, which may appear already at the beginning of the course (especially when using high doses). At the same time, there is water retention in the subcutaneous tissue and an increase in the amount of fat. Androgenic side effects are still possible when using this drug.

APPLICATION

The effective daily dose of the drug for oral administration is in the range of 25-150 mg and is taken in cycles lasting no more than 6-8 weeks to minimize hepatotoxicity.
