It has been shown that the short peptide epithalon promotes the proliferation of lymphocytes from the thymus during aging. This is important, since a decrease in the expression of gamma-interferon in lymphocytes is closely related to a decrease in immune function in the elderly. It is specifically postulated that epithalon can increase the production of gamma-interferon by lymphocytes, thereby improving immune function in the elderly.
Studies on rats showed benefits for premature aging when epithalon was combined with melatonin. In particular, Russian scientists Korenevsky et al.
