Mechano-pegylated growth factor (Peg MGF) is classified as a variant of insulin-like growth factor (IGF) and is produced in the liver under the action of growth hormone in response to damage to muscle tissue after physical exercise.

Peg MGF helps to increase muscle mass due to the activation of muscle stem cells in case of tissue damage. Muscle growth occurs due to hyperplasia (acceleration of cell division) and hypertrophy (increase in cell volume).
