N-acetyl semax
N-acetyl Semax is a synthetic analog of the adrenocorticotropic hormone ACTH 4-10 and is a heptapeptide with the structure Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro. The Semax peptide consists of a fragment of ASTN and a tripeptide Pro-Gly-Pro (PGP).
N-Acetyl Semax, created in Russia, has been shown by animal studies to have very strong nootropic, neuroprotective, neurogenic, and neurorestorative effects. As a result, it has been extensively studied in mammalian studies, including brain injuries such as stroke and transient ischemic attack, memory and cognitive impairments, as well as optic nerve diseases, gastric ulcer disease, and increased immunity.
Sometimes called simply semax, N-acetyl semax undergoes an important transformation through N-terminal acetylation. This is done in order to increase the stability and biological activity of the peptide. Studies of peptide N-terminal acetylation have suggested that this process can provide certain advantages, including increasing the efficiency of the specific mechanism of action of the peptide.
